Re-use Initiatives

Since 1995, our market leading re-use programs have been reducing waste, avoiding landfill, lowering carbon emissions and improving bottom lines.

Managed by our Braiform business division, the concept involves the re-use of billions of garment hangers as many times as possible – offering solutions that are both economical and environmentally sustainable.

The process begins when we design a range of re-usable garment hangers for retailers, and then supply them to garment manufacturers globally to be delivered into all of the retailer’s stores. Once a hanger is used, it is returned to our re-use facilities via hanger collection bins at the retailer’s point of sale. Re-use hangers are sorted, cleaned, re-packed, and re-distributed.

Our re-use facilities promote sustainable commitment practices as well as preserve new resources. Garment hangers unable to be re-used are ground down to their base resin, which is used again to make new hangers. Other items such as metal clips and hooks are also recycled. By extending a garment’s hanger life beyond a single use, our re-use programs significantly curb consumption rates of raw materials and reduce overall green house gas emissions.

In addition, we are constantly striving to research and work with renewable and biodegradable materials. The hangers we create for the re-use program have been designed to withstand the rigours of transportation and display many times over.

Re-use is a true environmental partnership between retailers, garment manufacturers, and Spotless.
