Spotless’ key role in a long-term student accommodation contract has reaffirmed its position as an industry leader for public-private partnership (PPP) projects.
The integrated services provider is part of consortium that has successfully secured a 30-year arrangement with the Australian National University in Canberra.
Spotless will deliver facilities management for ten (nine existing and one new) campus residencies, which will house as many as 3760 students.
The Spotless team will be responsible for a range of building upgrade and maintenance activities, including fire safety, waste disposal, grounds and air-conditioning.
The contract represents Spotless’ successful 17th PPP initiative, including three in the past year.
“We understand the unique issues surrounding PPP contracts, facilities and services, and have the proven capability to seamlessly deliver for our clients,” said Spotless Group CEO, Martin Sheppard.
“We have started mobilising our ANU team and will commence delivering services in December 2016. One of our first tasks is to bring some of the buildings up to the required standard.
“We are really looking forward to working with everyone at the ANU to provide a great experience for students.”
Valued in excess of $200 million over its 30-year term, the contract will include a fund for future capital upgrades and is expected to provide for a significant number of jobs.
This model will prove highly beneficial to the ANU as it will provide budget certainty for three decades, allowing university management to focus on student and research outcomes.
Spotless is also providing support to the ANU in the form of annual student scholarships.
Mr Sheppard said the Australian National University contract will further enhance Spotless’ reputation to deliver large-scale and long-term integrated services for PPPs.
“This is an emerging model and we believe there will be several opportunities to deliver similar services to universities in the coming years,” he said.
“Spotless has an unmatched capability to manage PPP contracts across a range of sectors and deliver high quality services to our clients.”
