Epworth Freemasons Private Hospital is a 224-bed healthcare facility and one of Melbourne’s best-known maternity hospitals and specialised health centres for women. As part of the $59 million redevelopment project to upgrade the ageing infrastructure of the building, Nuvo Group was awarded the 18-month full design and construct contract for the $5.5 million electrical, technology and data packages. The project involved an upfront full redesign of the electrical plans, lighting, systems and equipment schedules, including BMS, lighting control, shutdown, generator, intercom, UPS, medical systems, nurse call, access control, CCTV and switchboard upgrades.
Significant cost savings were achieved for our client by utilising and reusing selected existing electrical assets that were marked for removal. Our expertise in Healthcare also delivered full compliance with AS3003 for body protected areas while minimising client spend.
The completed redevelopment delivered two new operating theatres, refurbishment of existing theatres, a new ‘Day of Surgery’ admissions area, refurbished Central Sterile Supply Department, ceiling upgrades throughout the corridors and construction of a new plant deck. Epworth Freemasons continued to operate smoothly throughout the project duration with minimum of interruption to staff and patients due to Nuvo’s critical shutdown planning to undertake the work.
