Spotless will play a key role on a 25-year project to design, construct and maintain five new schools across New Zealand, as part of the ShapEd consortium selected to deliver the third New Zealand Schools PPP initiative. Other members include CPB Contractors, Southbase Construction, Pacific Partnerships and architects ASC. Spotless will deliver facilities management services for the schools, including asset management, grounds maintenance, pest control, cleaning, security, and utilities and waste management. The initiative incorporates the design, construction and maintenance of three new primary schools in the North Island and the relocation of two high schools in the South Island, catering for a total of almost 4000 students. The New Zealand Ministry of Education is also looking to add a number of additional schools to the deal during this stage. The project’s construction phase is scheduled to start in 2017, with the schools set to open in 2019. It is anticipated by the Ministry to be worth more than NZ$200 million.
