Nuvo Group completed an internal lighting upgrate within Parliament House Victoria. Given Nuvo’s experience within sensitive environments including heritage listed buildings, the company was invited to tender as part of a select group and was able to demonstrate a level of differentiation leading to the award of the project. Nuvo was appointed as Head Contractor for the works and was responsible for the programing of all trades, as well as maintenance of a safe working environment.
The project was completed within a definitive and challenging timeframe, during mid-year Parliamentary recess. Numerous trades and activities needed to be carried out seamlessly and simultaneously within a rigid program, whilst maintaining the highest quality of workmanship.
The works involved refurbishing existing light fittings that had been in-situ for decades, and installing a timber upstand — with French polishing to match the antique surrounds — around the café perimeter to house extrusion strip lighting. All lighting was required to be Dali dimmable, via a Philips Dynalite lighting control system, which required careful modification of light fittings to maintain a heritage look whilst integrating with modern lighting control technology.
As a result of the successful project outcome, Nuvo is the preferred contractor for the Department of Parliamentary Services.
